This mosque was built in 1442 around structures from 996 AD, in the city of Kashgar. The people of Kashgar, in Xinjiang, you’d think they look Chinese but they actually look more Middle Eastern rather than Chinese. Many of these Chinese people are descendants of Muslim immigrants form the Middle East countries, such as Kazakhstan or Afghanistan. These immigrants brought their beliefs and culture into China, and have converted many people to Islam. Many people visit the Id Kah Mosque because of its magnificent grounds, as well as it’s outdoor prayer halls. Beautiful green carved pillars hold up the ceiling of the mosque, and the walls are decorated with exquisite flower paintings. However, the main reason for the attraction is because of the majority Muslim population there, who are obligated to go worship every week. The mosque is still in very good condition due to it’s more recent construction, however the older structures have been supported by pillars lining all around mosque. All the carvings and paintings still remain on the walls and the greenery is constantly maintained by the Muslim Imams and their prodigies.
